Job Description

Under the direction of the Manager of Nursing, the RN will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in the Emergency Department..

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) is preferred
  • Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Trauma nursing core course (TNCC) is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Clinical competence in Acute Care and Emergency/Outpatient Services

PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS) IS PREFERRED. TRAUMA NURSING CORE COURSE (TNCC) IS PREFERRED. IT WILL BE DESIRABLE IF YOU POSSESS A KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES, METHODS AND TECHNIQUES INVOLVED IN PERFORMING NURSING SERVICES RELATING TO THE CARE OF PATIENTS IN AN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. THIS KNOWLEDGE IS COMMONLY OBTAINED THROUGH PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE NURSING. The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons. Internal candidates may be required to provide a CRC and/or VSC during the recruitment and selection process.
