Physicians taking time away from clinical practice for parental or adoption-related leave can receive income support during their time off.
The Parental Leave Fund provides up to 20 weeks of benefits to eligible physicians. Payments are set at 50% of the physician’s average weekly income over the previous six months, to a maximum of $2,000 per week. The total benefit may be reduced if the physician is receiving income or benefits from other sources.
