Saskatchewan Roughrider Fans

Saskatchewan has a vibrant sports culture, with proud and passionate fans. From professional teams like the Regina Red Sox and Saskatoon Berries (Western Canadian Baseball League), Saskatchewan Roughriders (Canadian Football League), Saskatchewan Rush (National Lacrosse League) and Saskatoon Mamba (Canadian Elite Basketball League) to junior hockey teams such as the Regina Pats and Saskatoon Blades, the province is home to an active and engaged sports scene. 

University athletics also add to the energy of the sports scene, with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the University of Regina Cougars and Rams competing at a high level across a range of sports.

Regina and Saskatoon host national and international artists, touring performances, live shows and provincial and national awards events throughout the year.

Arts, culture and museums

Saskatchewan is home to a range of museums, galleries and cultural spaces that reflect the province’s history, culture and creativity. The MacKenzie Art Gallery, Remai Modern, Royal Saskatchewan Museum and Wanuskewin Heritage Park offer art exhibitions and programming year-round.

The province also has a strong performing arts scene, including Canada's oldest symphony, the Regina Symphony Orchestra, and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, as well as live theatre at the Globe Theatre and Persephone Theatre.

Other cultural sites, including the RCMP Heritage Centre, Saskatchewan Science Centre and Western Development Museum, provide interactive and educational experiences for all ages.

Festivals and community events

Festivals are very popular, with events taking place in communities all around the province. Larger musical events such as the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and Country Thunder Saskatchewan, along with regional festivals such as Ness Creek Music Festival and Gateway Festival, attract performers from across Canada and around the world.

Local festivals that celebrate food, culture and community include MOSAIC and Saskatoon Folkfest, along with many smaller regional festivals such as the Windscape Kite Festivaland St. Walburg Wild Blueberry Festival. The First Nations University of Canada hosts the Spring Celebration Powwow every year in April. These gatherings highlight the diversity of the province and create opportunities to connect with others.

Events in every season

Events take place year-round in Saskatchewan. Summer is known for festivals, exhibitions and funfairs, outdoor concerts and community celebrations, while winter brings events like FROST Regina, Fire & Ice Lite and the Canadian Challenge Sled Dog Race, as well as many local snowmobile derbies and cross-country ski races.
