Newcomer Supports

Moving to a new country is a big step, but with a range of supports available, settling into the community, building connections and starting a new life here doesn’t have to be done alone.

Getting settled in Saskatchewan

Several organizations will help you get settled in Saskatchewan.

Once you arrive, there are services available to help you settle into your new community. Regional Newcomer Gateway Welcome Centres, such as the Open Door Society and Global Gathering Place, are located in several communities throughout the province. They provide support with housing, employment, language training and accessing local services as you navigate your first steps here.

Language training and support

English and French are the official languages in Canada, while English is the primary language spoken in Saskatchewan. Language programs are available for newcomers, often for free, to help those who want to learn or improve their English. These programs can help you feel more confident in day-to-day activities and interactions, as well as in the workplace.

What this means for you

Moving to Saskatchewan means having support at every stage, from your first days in the province to advancing your career. These resources and guidance are here to help you create that life with confidence.
