Practice Profile

Radiation Therapists are in high demand in Saskatchewan. Cancer services are provided by the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency, primarily in Saskatoon and Regina. The province’s Radiation Therapy department delivers various types of radiation treatments, including stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), high dose rate (HDR) brachytherapy, total body irradiation (TBI), and pediatric radiation oncology.

Required Qualifications

In order to practise as a Radiation Therapist I in Saskatchewan, individuals are required to have:

  • Bachelor degree or diploma in Radiation Therapy
  • Certification for Basic Life Saver (BLS)-C
  • Licensure with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Professionals of Saskatchewan (CMRIPS)
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)

To practise as a Radiation Therapist II in Saskatchewan, in addition to the above qualifications, individuals are required to have:

  • Three years of experience as a qualified Radiation Therapist

Remuneration

Radiation Therapists in Saskatchewan are compensated through a standardized hourly pay band. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, with defined salary ranges established through provincial agreements.
