Prince Albert serves as the primary service centre for northern Saskatchewan and is widely known as the “Gateway to the North.” Located along the North Saskatchewan River in Treaty 6 territory, it is the homeland of Indigenous groups who have lived in the area for thousands of years, including the Woodland Cree, Plains Cree, Swampy Cree, Dene, and the Dakota and Métis Nations. Today, Prince Albert has one of the highest proportions of Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) residents of any Canadian city and continues to be a diverse community with a growing immigrant population.

The local economy is broad and stable, supported by healthcare, education, government services, forestry, and retail. As a regional hub connecting southern Saskatchewan to northern communities and natural landscapes, Prince Albert combines urban convenience with close proximity to wilderness, offering a unique balance of opportunity, culture, and lifestyle.

Serving such a diverse population allows me to learn more about different cultures, languages, and developmental disorders across our province, and then collaborate with families and other professionals/services to ensure the patients are receiving the best care possible and are well connected with resources in and around their communities."
