Oxbow offers exceptional recreational opportunities, a strong community spirit and year-round access to the beauty of the southeast Saskatchewan prairie region. The area enjoys economic stability and growth from the Bakken Oil Field.
Within the community, Bow Valley Park, local parks and playgrounds, the Bow Valley Trail system and the Bow Wow Dog Park provide welcoming spaces for walking, hiking, biking, birdwatching, family outings and pet recreation. Outdoor amenities also include tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, disc golf and a growing pickleball community, with opportunities to play both outdoors and indoors at the Oxbow Memorial Hall.
The Oxbow Swimming Pool and Splash Pad offer swimming lessons and family recreation throughout the summer, while the South Alameda Motocross Track attracts riders of all skill levels. Seasonal events such as Canada Day celebrations, the summer parade, Bow Valley Jamboree, Christmas in Oxbow, Winter Festival and the Festival of Lights help bring the community together year-round.
Winter recreation is centered around the Oxbow Arena and Curling Rink, which host minor hockey, public skating, figure skating, curling leagues, youth programs, bonspiels and Oxbow Huskies Big Six Hockey games. Additional winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and tobogganing.
Oxbow also supports healthy living and community connection through the Bow Valley Community Fitness Centre, Oxbow Memorial Hall, public library, local churches and numerous volunteer organizations. Community services, including the Beautification Committee and the Oxbow-Enniskillen Fire Department, contribute to the town's welcoming character, safety and quality of life.

Oxbow Prairie Horizons School (OPHS) is a modern Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 school that serves Oxbow and surrounding communities in a bright, innovative learning environment. Built in 2010-2011, the school features modern classrooms with integrated technology, large gymnasiums, science labs, arts and drama spaces, a Learning Commons and outdoor learning and play areas. Students benefit from strong academic programming, including literacy and numeracy development, comprehensive high school courses in sciences, trades and technology, as well as distance learning and dual-credit opportunities. OPHS also offers inclusive learning supports, school counselling services and a wide range of extracurricular activities including athletics, arts, leadership programs and student clubs. With strong partnerships throughout the community and a safe, welcoming culture where every student is known by name, OPHS provides an excellent educational experience for families considering a move to Oxbow.
The Oxbow Community Child Care Centre is a licensed childcare facility serving children from 18 months to 12 years of age. With 33 spaces available, the Centre provides a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, play and thrive under the guidance of trained Early Childhood Educators. Programs include full-time and part-time childcare, before- and after-school care, literacy activities, creative arts, STEM exploration, outdoor play and healthy living initiatives. Bright indoor learning spaces and a secure outdoor play area support age-appropriate development, while flexible scheduling helps meet the needs of local families. The centre is a valued community resource, providing quality childcare and helping prepare young learners for a successful transition to school.
Families and youth in Oxbow are further supported by the Expressway Family Centre, which offers parenting and early childhood programming, and the Youth Drop-In Centre, which provides a safe and welcoming space for young people to socialize, participate in activities and connect with their community.
