Start working as a Continuing Care Assistant now. You have up to 2 years to complete an SHA recognized certificate program. The Continuing Care Assistant certificate program is offered in a variety of locations throughout Saskatchewan, in addition to online/distance.
Is it a fit?
Continuing Care Assistants have been called “the eyes and ears of the frail and vulnerable.” You need to be a caring, patient person, with a positive attitude and good people skills. Your most important asset is a desire to improve the quality of life for others. The ideal candidate is someone who has work or volunteer experience caring for others.
Prior to starting, you would be required to have:
- Personal and physical suitability
- A Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search prior to entering the clinical component of the program
- Standard First Aid and CPR Heart Saver 'C' AED or equivalent
- Proof of application or enrollment in a SHA recognized Continuing Care Assistant certificate program
