Nature and Scope: A clinical position working as part of assessment and treatment teams in a dynamic and growing hospital setting. This position involves the opportunity to work with individuals with chronic major mental illness and intellectual disabilities, often treatment resistant, in both the Forensic Psychology and Psychiatric Rehabilitation departments within Saskatchewan Hospital, North Battleford. Specific Accountabilities: Assess the needs of the patients in the Short Term Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Extended Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Secure, and Forensic Service Areas. Plan/Evaluate therapeutic individual and group programs that are consistent with patient needs and Unit objectives. Provide patient assessment and treatment plans (including behavior management programs); psychotherapy; contribute to formal and informal discussion of all cases. Awareness of policy and the administration of policy is a component of all professional positions. Consultation with others concerning the problems and needs of the patients in the Short Term Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Extended Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Secure and Forensic Service Areas, is required. Forensic responsibilities include remand assessments for Fitness to Stand Trial and Criminal Responsibility, reports and assessments for Saskatchewan Review Board Hearings, therapeutic intervention and treatment planning. Assemble data and analyze research and clinical assessment reports on individual patients for interpretation to other hospital staff. Experience: Experience in the area of mental health. Experience in psychological testing methods and statistics.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons. Internal candidates may be required to provide a CRC and/or VSC during the recruitment and selection process.
