Job Description

The Occupational Health Nurse is accountable for assessment, planning, implementing and evaluation of the health and health risks for Health Care Providers employed with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Occupational Health Nurse integrates clinical expertise with occupational health and public health methodologies to provide confident, ethical, autonomous decisions to fulfill the Occupational Health Nurse scope of practice.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing
  • Occupational Health Nursing Certificate or Occupational Health and Safety Diploma
  • Current CPR Certification

Experience
� Minimum 1 year experience in Occupational Health or Public Health Nursing with preference towards Occupational Health experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of immunology and biologicals used for immunizations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and competing deadlines, work under pressure, and establish priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to provide leadership in an ever-changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate education programming
  • Demonstrated ability to apply research to design, manage, coordinate and provide an advanced level of care as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of adult education and learning principles, and ability to integrate into programs and strategies including demonstrated ability to assess learning needs of clinicians.
  • General understanding of OH&S Legislation
  • Knowledge of communicable disease control practices and procedures including: prevention, promotion, reporting responsibilities and related procedures and immunization practices, including up to date immunization competency
  • Knowledge of research and statistical collection concepts.
  • Ability to manage programs within budgetary parameters.
  • Ability to travel when necessary.
  • Knowledge of community health and public health concepts.
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience in Excel and Word
  • Skillful in complex decision making through the application of knowledge, critical thinking and sound clinical, legal and ethical judgement
